COLUMBUS, Ohio — Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Renacci, who’s looking to unseat incumbent Gov. Mike DeWine in next year’s primary, announced Thursday he has picked Christian movie producer and motivational speaker Joe Knopp as his running mate.

Knopp, who lives in the Dayton suburb of Springboro, doesn’t have any prior political experience. In an interview, Renacci – a former congressman and 2018 U.S. Senate nominee from Wadsworth running to DeWine’s right – said that was part of the reason he chose Knopp as his pick for lieutenant governor.
