CAMBRIDGE MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION

TRAVEL / REPRESENTATIVE DIVISION

Tryout registration opens in August.  Tryouts for next season take place following the conclusion of the current season which usually follows Labour Day.  CMBA covers all costs for Rep/Travel Tryouts.

We conduct fall tryouts for travel teams primarily so that we can build a roster and work to prepare our teams during the off season. We also conduct fall tryouts to determine the viability of having a Tier 2 program at each age group - based on the number and skill level of those who tryout for Tier 1.

Please note that all players wishing to play travel baseball must first tryout for the Tier 1 team.  All players must participate in at least one tryout session.

WHAT TO EXPECT PLAYING TRAVEL BASEBALL

  • Offseason training can begin as soon as Oct 1, however CMBA strongly suggests a full month off from baseball activities
  • Team training consists of two training sessions per week , each 90 mins long
  • Individuals will have access to the Den during all open sessions starting Oct 1.  Individual sessions must be requested and booked through our booking site at CMBA Den Booking Site
  • Season starts first Monday of May and goes until Labour Day weekend
  • Season consists of approx 24 games with one or two per week
  • Teams practice one or two times per week based on coaches availabilty and season plan
  • Teams play on average three tournaments per year, with one usually an out of town that requires a hotels stay.  The costs associated with tournaments are added to the Travel Fees collected at the beginning of the season.
  • Playoffs start mid- August, Provincial Championships are Labour Day weekend for teams that qualify. These could require a hotel stay based on Association hosting
  • Teams have the option to fundraise to offset costs.  Rules and regulations surrounding fundraising can be found at CMBA Fundraising and Sponsorship Policy

  • Cambridge Minor Baseball generally has a no-release policy. You must tryout and play for Cambridge Tier 1 travel if selected by the coach to play for that team. Only upon release from Cambridge Tier 1 teams, may a release be provided to tryout out for another T1 team in other OBA centre.
  • A Release may also be granted if a player wishes to tryout for a team in another centre if no team at that level is provided by CMBA.

Any Cambridge player wishing to play in another centre must first meet the above criteria. A request for a release must be submitted in writing to the VP of Travel.

All players must register for the tryouts at the age appropriate venue. All required releases or proof of residency will be required to be handed in at the appropriate tryout venue before you will be allowed to participate.

Any exceptions to these rules must be approved by the CMBA Executive, through the VP of Travel.
