Dr. Pakdil is a Professor of Management in the Department of Management & Marketing at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU). Prior to ECSU, Dr. Pakdil was a Professor of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering at Baskent University. Previously, Dr. Pakdil worked for the Department of Industrial Engineering at Uludag University. She earned her MBA in 1996 and Ph.D. in Business Administration in 2002 from Uludag University. Dr. Pakdil researched corporate performance management systems in healthcare organizations at Wake Forest University, Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina for Ph.D. studies in 2001. Dr. Pakdil was also the Quality Director at Konur Hospital in Turkey for six years. On a year-long sabbatical awarded by the Turkish National Scientific and Technological Council, Dr. Pakdil collaborated with Dr. Karen Leonard on the cultural aspects of lean management at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2012.
Dr. Pakdil is a member of INFORMS, American Society for Quality (ASQ), and Academy of Management (AOM). She specializes in Quality Engineering, Organization Theory, Healthcare Organizations, Lean Production, Total Quality Management, Service Quality, and Quality Control. Her work has been published in top-tier journals such as Administration & Society, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management, Transportation Research Part C among others. One of her publications entitled "Culture and Communication: Cultural Variations and Media Effectiveness" was listed among the most downloaded articles in 2009-2010. Dr. Pakdil presented at numerous national and international conferences including the Academy of Management, INFORMS, and NEDSI.
Dr. Pakdil is currently serving as a Guest Editor of a special issue "Lean Six Sigma developments in Turkey" at the International Journal of Lean Six Sigma. She serves as a member in the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Lean Six Sigma and the Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management. Dr. Pakdil also serves as a reviewer for numerous scholarly journals including International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and Production Planning & Control, to name a few.
Dr. Pakdil was a Visiting Professor at Auburn University for Academy of Aerospace Quality (AAQ) Project between August 2014 and August 2015. Dr. Pakdil wrote a book titled Performance Leadership with Dr. Leonard, and the book was published by Business Expert Press in May 2016. She also wrote a textbook titled Six Sigma for Students: A Problem Solving Methodology published by Palgrave-Macmillan and Springer in December 2020.
Dr. Pakdil attended several training programs over the last years. She took a Design of Experiments course provided by the ASQ in 2022. She also attended Faculty Standards and Tables seminar and Virtual Business Accreditation seminar provided by the AACBS in 2020 and 2021. Additionally, she took the Effective Teaching Practices training provided by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) in 2018.
Dr. Pakdil was awarded the 2018 CSU-AAUP Research Award at ECSU. Lastly, Dr. Pakdil was awarded the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Mentor Award in 2021 at ECSU. She is the creator of the Healthcare Management Concentration in the Department of Business Administration and the Healthcare Management Minor at ECSU. She has been conducting research with industrial engineering and management undergraduate students since 2000. Her work with undergraduate and graduate students were published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Additionally, Dr. Pakdil’s undergraduate students presented their projects locally in Celebrating Research Excellence & Artistic Talent At Eastern (CREATE) at ECSU in 2018, 2019, and 2020, and nationally at NCUR 2018, NCUR 2019, NCUR 2021, NEDSI 2018, NEDSI 2019, and NEDSI 2021 conferences. Her students' projects were awarded the third place and honorary mentions at the NEDSI 2018 and NEDSI 2019.
