Judith Frondle

My mother, Judith Frondle, was taken to the emergency room at St. Luke's hospital mid April due to non related covid issues. She was vomiting blood. The hospital couldn't figure out why and couldn't pump blood fast enough into her she was losing it so fast. She was then taken to the University of Iowa hospital where she was unresponsive for three days.

They ended up finding the bleed and she came through and was getting better everyday. They decided that she needed to go to a skilled living center to get help regaining her strength. She had multiple covid tests while she was there and one right before she went to the skilled learning center as a negative test was required. Once there she was put in the quarantine section and every person that she came in contact with was scrubbed and masked up. She ended up not feeling very well and they gave her another covid test. It was positive. They started her on medication for it. The medication ended up making her have mini seizures. She called me the afternoon of April 28th and cried and told me she was alone and scared. That night they took her to St Luke's to evaluate the seizures. I got a call at 3am on the morning of April 29th and was informed my mother had passed away. A blood clot had passed from her lung and she went into cardiac arrest. She was exactly one week shy from her 75th birthday. I didnt get to say my goodbyes. I didnt get to go see her after she passed because she had a positive covid test. She didn't get to have the funeral she very much deserved due to covid restrictions. She still had so much life to live. Her loved ones will never have that closure of saying their goodbyes. She died alone and scared. I miss her smiling face every single second of every single day. Fly high mama. We love and miss you!

Christopher F. Nelson

Chris was a lifelong Democrat and Union member. He loved riding Harleys and spending time with his family and friends. Chris was always willing to lend a helping hand.It was Chris' conviction that every working man and woman deserves to receive a livable wage in exchange for his/her hard work and dedication which contributes to the organization's growth and prosperity, to have a safe place to work, and to be treated with dignity and respect. Putting that belief into action, he joined the UAW Local 270 in 1993. Chris served as Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, Union Steward, Vice President, and President over the years. He was also an active member on West Central CAP and Trustee of the Iowa State CAP Council.
