digs
/diɡz/
verb
to bring to light or out of hiding.
noun informal
living quarters.
digs is an immersive installation experience fabricated from items resurrected from the beaches and streets of South Florida. Representing rooms in a home, the inspiration for digs stems from the innate sense of make believe in children, including the practice of building forts and playing house. The work is executed through the lens of the modern and contemporary practice of installation art, found object sculpture, and the century-old dada staple, the Readymade.
Patricia L. Cooke was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina in 2011. Cooke has exhibited work throughout North Carolina and South Florida. Cooke is currently completing her MFA in Sculpture at the University of Miami.
