Celebrates OHSU Affiliation


This week, Adventist Health Portland celebrated its new affiliation with OHSU. Back in November, the Gleaner interviewed Joyce Newmyer, president of the Adventist Health Pacific Northwest Region about the upcoming changes, and how it might, or might not, affect Adventist Health in the PNW. Adventist Health Opens Clinic & Urgent Care in Banks


Adventist Health Portland has opened the doors to a new health clinic and urgent care facility in Banks, Ore. It is the only health clinic in Banks, and the only urgent care facility in in the far west region of Washington County. In Washington County, about 11% of residents were uninsured in 2017, according to the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute. The clinic will accept all forms of insurance, but won’t turn anyone away who can’t afford healthcare for any reason. Read more...

How to Walk with God – and Enjoy it!

In the first two days of my trip, I hiked south in the sweltering heat of the Bridge Creek valley. Returning to my car at Rainy Pass (highway 20 in Washington), I now loaded up for the hike north to the Canadian border. The soft, pine needle covered trail ascended up through alder turning to fir and cedar. I stepped across lightly flowing creeklets that still provided drinking water for late summer hikers. Making a big U-turn at the head of a valley, the switchbacks took me up to the open views of Cutthroat Pass. At 6800 feet, I was above the heat and the trees and in the wide open space of the mountaintops! Read on...

Newstart for the Family – Newstart for the Family begins January 23 at 6:00 pm at the Grants Pass Adventist Church Better Living Center. This scientifically researched health restoration program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for a total of 8 sessions, ending February 15. It includes lifestyle principles that  prevent and reverse disease through natural methods. This is a great series to learn the basics of meal planning and cooking with plant foods. The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work – The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work couples workshop teaches couples how to make their marriages more satisfying. Learn how to improve communication, effectively manage conflict, and create deeper intimacy using practical skills.
