OC Health Care Agency Issues Ocean Water Closure

(Santa Ana, CA) - The County of Orange Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health division has closed the ocean water area in the City of Newport Beach from Pearson’s Port down bay to the edge of the Bay Shores Community Association Docks due to a sewage spill. The spill of approximately 100 gallons was caused by a sewer main blockage in Newport Beach.
 
The affected ocean water area will remain closed to ocean water-contact sports until the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards.
