Greetings!

As you return to campus, the Office of Student Financial Assistance and Employment (OSFAE) is here to assist those students affected by Hurricane Irma. We are reaching out to let you know that you may be eligible for additional assistance. In most cases, you will be offered additional aid, typically in the form of federal loans.

Allowable expenses that may be covered by financial aid are transportation-, lodging-, and meal-related expenses as a result of Hurricane Irma. To qualify for additional assistance you must:

  • provide a completed 2017-2018 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application (Useful Links)
  • provide proof of payment that the costs were incurred during the university closure
  • have remaining eligibility for federal assistance

The link below will allow you to submit this request for review as well as the supporting documentation for these expenses. All requests must be received prior to October 6, 2017 .

Please note that assistance cannot be provided for the cost of repairs or the replacement of your or your family’s home, car, or other personal property that may have been lost due to the hurricane.  If you were impacted by damage, the OSFAE team will be providing additional information on other resources available to you, such as FEMA relief.

As a ’Cane, please know that you have an entire community here to support you. If you have any questions about whether you may be eligible for additional assistance, please contact our office to speak with a financial aid advisor.

Sincerely,
Raymond Nault
