Prior to Southern - Dawson spent the 2022-23 season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) where he averaged 13.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks a game in 26 starts ... At MGCCC he earned second-team All-MACCC honors after finishing with 362 points going 61-for-75 from free throws (81.3%), 142-for-249 from the field (57.0) and 17-for-51 from three (33.3%) while grabbing 196 rebounds with 26 assists, 23 steals and 35 blocks in 763 minutes (29.4) ... Spent the 2020-21 season at Francis Marion University a Division II program in the Conference Carolinas  ... Finished with 115 points, 97 rebounds, 23 assists, 18 blocks and 14 steals in 14 starts while averaging 32.3 minutes a game ... Went 8-for-13 from free throws (61.5%), 44-for-108 from the field (40.7%) and 19-for-46 from three (41.3%) ... Spent the 2019-20 season at Marion Military Institute where he appeared in 28 games with 27 starts for the Tigers ... Finished with 344 points going 67-for-96 from free throws (69.8%), 131-for-235 from the field (55.7%) and 15-for-32 from three (46.9%) along with having 251 rebounds, 26 assists, 37 steals and 56 blocks ... Prepped at West Florence High School for coach Daryl Jarvis where he was named onto the High School Sports Report's AAAAA All-State Team, the MVP of the Pepsi Classic and an appearance in the state playoffs as a senior.

Personal - Darius is the son of Doris and Steven Dawson and will major in finance at Southern.
