As the summer winds down, it's time to start planning to attend any number of local Section events, starting with our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 25th.  In addition, please save the dates for our fine slate of confirmed meetings from October to next January (and beyond).

Topic : " From Laboratory Research to Startup Company - A Case History "

Speaker: Dr. Alexander Couzis is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at CCNY's (City College of New York) Grove School of Engineering   

He is also the Chief Technology Officer at Urban Electric Power (UEP, Pearl River, NY), which offers for license a breakthrough zinc anode battery technology for stationary energy storage applications developed at CUNY's Energy Institute. Made from the same environmentally-sustainable materials as disposable alkaline batteries, UEP's rechargeable zinc manganese dioxide battery technology offers potentially a lower-cost, higher-performance alternative to the lead acid and Li-ion batteries currently in the market

The Tuesday, September 25th AIChE, Metro NY Section's Dinner meeting will be held at the Ukrainian East Village Restaurant, 140 Second Ave (just south of East 9th Street), Manhattan. You must be pre-registered to gain access to this meeting.

Topic: Cybersecurity in the CPI (Chemical Processing Industries)

Speaker: Daniel Garrie is an internationally recognized cybersecurity, privacy, forensic expert. Daniel is also a recognized entrepreneur, respected investor, court-appointed neutral, mediator, and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) consultant and arbitrator.

Daniel is an Executive Managing Partner
of the global management consulting firm Law & Forensics  leading the cybersecurity, privacy, forensics, and e-discovery consulting teams; Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law in Cyberwarfare, Cybersecurity, and GDPR; and, Co-Head  of Zeichner Ellman & Krause LLP, Privacy and Cyber Security legal practice.

The AIChE, Metro New York Section is participating at the American Chemical Society's (ACS) National Chemistry Week event at the New York Hall of Science  (Corona, NY), 11 am - 4 pm.

Topic: Emergence of the 'Me' Enterprise - A Blueprint for Leadership in the 21st Century

Speaker: Ashok Shah is a former President of Alcatel-Lucent's Global Professional Services organization. He spends his time serving as an advisor or as a member of the Board of Directors for a collection of public and private businesses and universities. He is the Founder and President of CEPS Consulting LLC (Warren, NJ). He is Co-author (with Ross Kelly) of the book, "Emergence of the 'Me' Enterprise."

Previous experience includes: seven years of process engineering experience in various chemical, pharmaceutical, and refining processes, plus seven years of technical service/sales in process, water, & wastewater treatment.
