This 12-month calendar (January through December 2019) is full of beautiful photos highlighting Nevada’s scenic wonders and features a different geologic topic each month: Snow Covered, Geomorphology, Keystone Thrust, Roberts Mountains, Great Basin National Park, Fang Ridge, Calico Mountains, Black Rock Lava Flow, Kyle Canyon, Wilson Canyon, Frenchman Mountain, and Basin and Range.

The calendar also includes interesting facts about Nevada and the geology of the state.

A big thank you goes to the calendar prize winners and contributors for the outstanding photos they submitted.

First-place winner: James Marvin Phelps, Frenchman Mountain (front cover and November page)
Second-place winner: A. Jackson Frishman, View from Baker Peak, Great Basin National Park (May page)
Third-place winner: Chip Carroon, Fang Ridge, Nye County (June page)

Calendar photo contest for 2020: If you have amazing photos of Nevada geology that you would like to share with others in the 2020 Nevada Geology Calendar, you can enter the photo contest now!

Here are the details for the 2020 calendar contest:
  • Deadline for entries is May 31, 2019.
  • Photos need to be taken in Nevada. A location description and/or GPS coordinates should accompany submissions along with description.
  • High-quality, high-resolution photo files of at least 300 DPI are required for quality printing.
  • You may enter as many photos as you wish.
  • Email submissions to Jack Hursh (jhursh@unr.edu).
  • NBMG Cartographers will make the final decision on the winning photos.
  • Prizes will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place winners.
