Application

How to Apply

Eligibility

Proposals should be submitted by graduate students from universities located within US and US territories who are pursuing advanced degrees in areas related to quantum information science and engineering. These areas include physics, materials science, quantum or device engineering, chemistry, computer science, and industrial research. International students based at US universities are eligible to apply.

Materials Submission

Each applicant must supply the following in PDF format:

  1. A two-page project proposal that clearly articulates the research objectives and plans for work in quantum information science and engineering. In particular, the proposals should:
    • Represent intellectually exciting, leading-edge, trail-blazing research topics in quantum information science and engineering with potential for growth and follow-on work between the student, company or national laboratory and academic groups.
    • Demonstrate strong alignment between the activities of the academic group and of the industrial/national laboratory group, and that also evidence commitment to strong two-way interactions between the two activities.
    • Projects that have a clear point of contact on the industry or national laboratory side who will take responsibility for the student mentorship, with a well-planned student internship at the company.
  2. An official transcript from your graduate institution. Students can upload a PDF to the application. The PDF is sufficient for our needs.
  3. A letter of recommendation from the faculty advisor regarding the project.
  4. A letter of recommendation from the company or national laboratory advisor endorsing the project and associated activities.

Once the application period has closed, submissions will be evaluated by the QISE-NET advisory board.
