TBPELS Response to COVID-19

Facility Updates

Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors' staff are currently working both in the physical office and remotely to serve our customer's needs. As always, we have multiple ways to submit paperwork and contact our staff:

  • You can email us at info@pels.texas.gov. This is the most effective way to get your questions answered.
  • You can mail in paperwork to the office.  Send it to TBPELS, 1917 South IH-35, Austin, TX 78741.
  • If you need to drop off paperwork at the office, please use the drop box to the right of the front door.
  • Staff members are also monitoring voicemails and returning phone calls. Call the agency number at 512-440-7723 and follow the prompts to reach the best division to assist you.

Outreach Events

Due to an abundance of caution related to the COVID-19 / Coronavirus situation, TBPELS has decided not to conduct any face-to-face meetings in the near future. In the second half of 2021, we'll review the situation and make determinations for future events. Webinars and video conferences are being held. Schedule your event by going to: http://pels.texas.gov/outreach.html

Continuing Education and License Renewals

PE License renewals and RPLS registration renewals are due on the standard expiration date as are the associated continuing education requirements. TBPELS has not made any changes to the requirements for continuing education for PE or RPLS renewals.  However, we understand that the COVID-19 virus is very serious and may have caused the cancelation or postponements of various continuing education courses, conferences, and other events. IF you are audited for this renewal period and IF you have been impacted by COVID-19, let us know at the time of the audit. Please keep in mind that Board rules allow 5 hours of self-study per renewal cycle for engineers and 4 hours of self-study per renewal cycle for surveyors and that online courses may also be counted for continuing education purposes.
