North Texans Welcome Proposed Deck Park Plans in Plano

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – A newly-approved plan to expand Plano’s parks and trails includes a proposed deck park.

It would span the Dallas North Tollway at Legacy Drive similar to Klyde Warren Park in Uptown.

Those behind the park told residents it’s intended to make the area near the tollway more walkable while at the same time linking Legacy West and Legacy Town Center around a pedestrian bridge already under construction.

This Frisco woman lives near the area and said this type of park is needed.

Deck Proposal

“Lots of cars, lots of buildings not so much green space and I think green space is imperative,” she said.

Some locals said there needs to be more parks to keep up with the rapid growth of businesses and apartment complexes in the area.

“I definitely love love love the idea of a public use place. Not just necessarily ball fields but a place to go sit and have a picnic,” she one Plano resident.

The plan, which was approved 5 to 1 Monday, did not include a cost breakdown but merely outlined a series of recommendations.
