This year, Atlanta played host to the 2018 National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT) High School National Championship. In the final round, four players from Plano West Senior High School – Jaskaran Singh, senior; Ahbinav Godavarthi, junior; Thomas Gioia, senior; Avi Ackerman, junior – faced off against Hunter College High School from New York in a competition of knowledge and speed. Spoiler alert: Plano West wins it all.

Each year, hundreds of teams across the country come together for an academically accelerated version of team Jeopardy. Teams endured two days of mentally exhausting quizzes, answering 20-24 toss-up questions per round about literature, humanities, math, science, history, geography and more. Students are challenged with the impossible task of knowing everything that ever happened within the history of time, and responding exactly and quickly.
