Blown transformer shuts down part of Central Expressway service road in Plano

The Spring Creek Parkway exit is closed and drivers are encouraged to take the Legacy Drive exit instead.

Drivers are being diverted because of underground transformer that blew Monday afternoon near U.S. Highway 75 in Plano, police said.

Part of the North Central Expressway service road was closed about 5:30 p.m. while Oncor crews made repairs. No one was injured when the transformer blew, police spokesman David Tilley said.

The Spring Creek Parkway exit is closed, and drivers are encouraged to take the Legacy Drive exit instead. The road is expected to reopen about 7 p.m., he said.
