The Shops at Willow Bend mall is wrapping up construction on its restaurant district, part of a $125 million renovation and expansion project described by industry researchers as one of the most ambitious such efforts in the nation.

The mall's new restaurant offerings will begin to open throughout the month of September after construction on the buildings and interiors comes to a close, mall spokesperson Amy Medford said on Thursday.

The mall invited members of the local media to tour the construction zone. See some of the photos and descriptions of the restaurants below.

Knife and Knife Burger
Celebrity chef John Tesar is planning to open his newest Knife restaurant at The Shops at Willow Bend. The restaurant will feature an upscale environment with a bar and steakhouse fare. A more casual counter-service Knife Burger will open alongside the restaurant, as will a butcher store under the Knife brand. The steakhouse brand has another location in Dallas, and a Knife Burger location at Legacy Hall in Plano.

Whistle Britches
Whistle Britches, a fried-chicken restaurant from chef Omar Flores, is planning to open in September at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano. The restaurant will include a bar and indoor seating with a temperature-controlled patio. Dishes include chicken and waffles, chicken biscuits and a number of other menu items. Whistle Britches has another location on Frankford Road in Dallas.

Terra Mediterranean
Terra Mediterranean will feature a buffet for lunch and a more traditional menu for dinner when it opens in September at The Shops at Willow Bend. The new space will feature a downstairs dining area and a second-floor bar and lounge. The restaurant chain has locations in Irving and Fort Worth.

Mexican Bar Co.
Mexican Bar Co. will serve a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and cocktails. The restaurant, along with Knife steakhouse, will be located next to the new primary entrance to The Shops at Willow Bend, currently under construction.
