The LGBT Older Adult Experience will provide health and human service providers of staff levels on the community of individuals who comprise the LGBT older adult population. LGBT older adults (50 and older) often face myriad challenges in addition to those experienced by their heterosexual counterparts; in particular, social isolation, familial estrangement, increased health risks, and lack of culturally competent health and human services. This workshop will describe in depth the dynamic of the LGBT aging community and best practices for working with this population. A Q&A will close the session.
