Project Based Learning (PBL) with ELLs in Mind Collaborative - Year II Pilot
This is an application to participate in a yearlong project, PBL with ELLs in Mind - Year II Pilot. Teams of social studies, humanities, mathematics, ENL and bilingual teachers and assistant principals will be engaged in in-person and virtual sessions during the 2023-24SY. The goal is to deepen their knowledge around the “what” and “how” of PBL as a vehicle to strengthen the instructional core for linguistically diverse learners. Participants will be invited to take part in focus groups to design, implement and assess PBL instructional cycles using their own core curriculum to ground the work.
To start off strong, the Division of Multilingual Learners will offer kick-off events over the summer to 2 cohorts of educators who apply to participate. This will help us set purpose for the PBL with ELLs in Mind Collaborative, frame goals and introduce a year-long scope and sequence for this K-12 project.
The New York City Department of Education is an approved sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE).
