Man struck and killed by truck near Bathurst and Bloor

By News Staff

A man, believed in his 60s, is dead after he was hit by a truck in Harbord Village.

Emergency crews were called to Bathurst and Lennox streets, near Bloor, around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The man was found unconscious in the area and pronounced dead at the scene.

Toronto police say a large green truck — possibly a garbage truck — was going east on Lennox and making a right turn onto Bathurst.

At the same time, the man was walking on the southwest corner of Lennox and Bathurst when he fell onto the road and was hit by the truck.

The driver did not remain at the scene, but police say the driver may not have known they hit someone.

Police initially said a garbage truck was reported to have been involved.

On Tuesday, a woman who was sleeping in a laneway was struck and killed by a garbage truck at the rear of a building near Adelaide and York streets.
