Standing Up for Racial Justice

Date:
Tuesday, October 9, 2018
Time:
6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Location:
Foundry United Methodist Church

As we continue witnessing acts of racial injustice across the country, we want to recommit to building bridges and understanding in our home here in DC.

Join us for a workshop that will tackle the topics of unconscious bias, allyship, and racial justice. Participants will be encouraged to explore their subconscious biases and understand the systems that create power and privilege in our society. We will also learn how to be the best allies in the fight for racial justice. Guided by staff from Operation Understanding DC, the evening will take participants on the important journey of self-reflection as well as provide tools for taking concrete action. This program is intended for individuals who identify as white.

Operation Understanding DC‘s mission is to build a generation of African American and Jewish community leaders who promote respect, understanding, and cooperation while working to eradicate racism, anti-Semitism, and all forms of discrimination.

A vegetarian dinner will be served.

We request a $12 registration fee to help cover the costs of the program. If this is in any way a hardship please email Sonya.

Please click on the "Sign Me Up!" button to proceed to registration.

In partnership with AVODAH, Tzedek DC, JCRC, the Adas Israel Racial Justice Working Group, and JUFJ.
