12 new eateries are opening in Allegheny County

Freshii is opening a store in the Union Trust Building at 501 Grant St., downtown Pittsburgh. The chain restaurant is known for affordable health foods.

The Allegheny County Health Department issued licenses to 12 new eateries last month, including seven new restaurants, according to a news release.

The new eateries are:

Freshii , 501 Grant St., Downtown Pittsburgh: Chain restaurant for affordable health foods.

Chocolate Moonshine Company , 3703 Butler St., Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood: Bakery for fudge and other treats.

Najat's Cuisine , 531 Beaver St., Sewickley: Middle Eastern Restaurant.

King Crust , 1105 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon: Pizza shop.

Tasty Platters & Fried Chicken , 4401 Old William Penn Highway, Monroeville: Fast food restaurant.

Clean Juice, 5829 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood: First location in the region for the organic juice chain.

Fair Price Market , 4411 Old William Penn Highway, Monroeville: Grocery store.

Kara Kakes , 300 Beverly Road, Mt. Lebanon: Bakery.

• Dragon Palace, 1714 Main St., Sharpsburg: Chinese restaurant.

• Chicken Plus, 6109 Broad St., Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood.

• Pad Thai Noodle, 4770 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh's Bloomfield neighborhood.

• Eating area inside Pittsburgh Fitness Project, 5500 Butler St., Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood.

The county highlighted the following eateries for using trans fat-free cooking oils: Najat's, Freshii, Dragon Palace, King Crust, Pad Thai Noodle and Tasty Platters & Fried Chicken.
