Buffalo supervisors OK grant request to bring city water to 82 homes

Buffalo Township supervisors have jumped on board with an effort to extend waterlines to a township neighborhood.

Supervisors voted 5-0 Wednesday to endorse the Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township's grant application to bring water to about 82 homes on Sunny Lane and Carol, Crescent Hill and Kimberly drives, which are adjacent to Route 228.

The authority is seeking $500,000 from the state Department of Community and Economic Development for a project that eventually would replace wells that households in the area use with waterlines.

The project is contingent upon receiving the state grant issued through the Pennsylvania Small Water & Sewer Fund.

The authority, which was to meet Thursday night, needs to get township approval for the effort. No Buffalo officials or residents at Wednesday's supervisors' meeting voiced objection to the project.

Currently, the municipal authority serves about 5,000 customers in Buffalo Township, Freeport and South Buffalo Township.
