Polar Coding for Future Networks: Theory and Practice

Polar Coding for Future Networks: Theory and Practice

The Workshop on Polar Coding will be held in conjunction with IEEE WCNC 2018, Barcelona, Spain, 15-18 April 2018.Channel coding in future wireless networks is facing novel challenges due to largely extended service classes and scenarios, as compared to existing networks. Polar codes provide many features that make them promising candidates: rate-adaptation is naturally provided, length adaptation may be accomplished by puncturing and shortening; fast successive-cancellation decoding and powerful list decoding is available; and high-throughput hardware implementations have been proposed. The recent adoption of polar codes in 5G clearly shows their high potential. This workshop is bringing together researchers from industry and academia to showcase the state of the art of polar coding and identify the remaining research problems to solve. Theory and code design as well as decoding algorithms and hardware implementations are being covered. News
