EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The school calendar for the 2018-2019 academic year was adopted by the Board on November 17, 2016.  Two months ago staff began working on a pragmatic solution to manage safety and security on Election Day.  In the mean time other factors have come to light.  Staff has considered multiple options which have ultimately led to a new recommendation, which will alleviate student safety concerns and allow schools the opportunity to train staff on safety protocols.

The following revisions are recommended:

  • Change Tuesday, November 6, 2018 to a Teacher Work Day.  This is currently a regular school day.
  • Change Friday, March 8, 2019 to a regular school day.  This is currently a Teacher Work Day.  This revision will not change the total number of instruction days for students.
