TURLOCK, Calif. -- After struggling in a first-set loss, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team responded in fury, cruising to wins in the next three sets to knock off Stanislaus State 3-1 (16-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20) Saturday night at Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock.
The Broncos have matched the second-longest win streak in program history as winners of eight consecutive matches, improving to 9-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 record in CCAA action. Of the Warriors' three losses on the season, two have come from the Broncos in back-to-back weekends -- Stanislaus falls to 7-3 (0-2 CCAA).
Four CPP players recorded double-digit kills against the host Warriors, led by 18 apiece from
Andrea Bosnic and
Jenna Goldsberry, both also chipped in with double-digit digs, 13 for Bosnic and 10 for Goldsberry.
Desi Martin and
Kristen Hamlin both dropped in 10 kills.
Alex Bollier led all players with 26 digs and
Kira Zimmerman tossed up 51 assists in the victory, eclipsing her season-high mark by 15.
Cal Poly Pomona, which is enjoying its best start to a season since 2005, will play at home for the first time this season on Friday when it hosts CCAA North Division powerhouse Sonoma State at 7:00 pm in Kellogg Arena.
