Here's what happened at our March 2023 event:

Our Keynote Speaker at last year's event on March 10, 2023 was NASA Astronaut Megan McArthur, Ph.D.

Megan McArthur was selected as an astronaut in 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of California, San Diego where she performed research activities at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. McArthur served as a Mission Specialist aboard STS-125, the final space shuttle mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. The successful mission improved the telescope’s capabilities and extended its life – it is still in operation today. In completing her first space mission, McArthur has logged almost 13 days in space. She most recently served as pilot of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavour, and NASA’s SpaceX Crew-2 mission which landed on November 8, 2021. It was the second commercial crew rotation mission aboard the International Space Station and the third crewed flight for that spacecraft. She also served as Flight Engineer of Expedition 65/66 on the International Space Station.

Schedule of Events for the

8th Annual Colorado Women's Day included:

We are putting together a lineup of great speakers for our next Colorado Women's Day event, starting with Joni Inman who from the Colorado Women's Alliance who will present the workshop "Colorado Women - Does the Community Know Your Name?"  If you want to increase your visibility for business, social, or political reasons you'll want to attend this very informative workshop in the morning of March 10th before the luncheon and awards presentation. Entrance to this and all activities that day are included in your luncheon ticket price.

Colorado Women's Day has a history of tackling some rather serious subjects!  This year, however, we're going to have some fun with a FASHION SHOW from Nadine Kagen Wilson's TRULY BOHOTIQUE. The 8th annual event, held in conjunction with International Women's Day, starts at 9:00 am sharp!  Come on time so you don't miss our great speakers, the fashion show, and some unique shopping.

The state of a nation's women, defines the state of the entire nation.

Grants from the IX Power Foundation

With every industrial water treatment project that IX Power Clean Water completes, the IX Power Foundation will help bring clean water to an in-need ommunity without charge.  We are also interested in teaming with other parties who have the same mission - to bring clean, safe drinking water anywhere around the world.

With proceeds from our last Colorado Women's Day event, the IX Power Foundation was able to make monetary grants to four nonprofits who work for clean water in other countries, and to two Denver-area nonprofits focused on literacy, and women's empowerment.

Why the IX Power Foundation & IX Power Clean Water are involved in

Colorado & International Women's Day

Water and the treatment of Women (and other disadvantaged peoples) - they are at the intersection of the world's most pressing issues.  The IX Power companies have dedicated their corporate missions to helping improve the future of both.

Here's one part of the situation to start putting the whole picture in perspective!

In 80% of households without close access to water, the responsibility falls on women and girls to fetch and carry it. Around the world, females spend 200 million hours per day getting and water for their households. In poorer nations, they walk an average of nearly four miles per day for it. The time and energy used to access clean water perpetuates the cycle of poverty. Hours spent retrieving water means hours not working or studying.

A further concern is the danger involved. In areas like Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and the border between Afghanistan and Iran, water is not only a source of discord, it is dangerous for women to make the trek to water sources each day. In addition to potential conflict between factions, there are risks of physical or sexual assault. Fetching water may, in fact, be truly dangerous. There is also the physical toll of carrying water. Jerry cans are used, each of which holds an average of five gallons and weighs 40 pounds. Women most often carry those containers on their heads, leading to serious injury to neck and spine, made worse when carried by young girls.
