Quick Clip: “I’ve Talked to Plenty of Republicans Who Wished They Had A Better Candidate”

On yesterday’s Meet The Press Daily, Chuck Todd highlighted one of the most enduring and significant themes of the Senate campaign cycle: Republican recruitment failures. With 54 days to go, Republicans are still frustrated by their bad Senate candidates and the enduring damage they’ve suffered from their nasty, expensive primaries. Watch for yourself:

TODD: One thing that’s happened here, notice who you who just brought up: Beto O’Rourke, you brought up Phil Bredesen and we talk about Joe Donnelly – these were A-list recruits, some of them were A-list recruits six years ago. Joe Donnelly was. Meanwhile, look at the Republican recruits. I’ve talked to plenty of Republicans who wished they had a better candidate in Missouri. Talked to plenty of Republicans that thought Braun would be a better candidate than he was in Indiana. West Virginia, you’ve heard grumblings. And then I bring up Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, where they have not found the candidate to put it in play.
