This week’s Civics in Real Life is from our Women’s History Month series and focuses on the first female presidential candidate of a major political party.

LFI, in collaboration with the Jack Miller Center, are hosting a four day institute, titled “Teaching Florida Social Studies Standards with Primary Sources.”
This institute is for middle and high school teachers. It will be held at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Participants will study primary sources relating to new Florida social studies standards, including new civics standards recently passed in the state. Participants will have the opportunity to study with other Florida teachers, as well as professors from FAU, UCF and UF. Classroom application sessions by the Jack Miller Center and the Lou Frey Institute will demonstrate strategies for using primary sources to meet Florida standards. Lunch will be provided and participants will receive a $400 stipend.
