Spring is finally here after what seems like months and months and months of winter! My family and I spent the weekend in our garden cleaning some branches away from past storms (revealed after the snow melted) and finally getting some sun! And today we kick off the week with a gorgeous new Paint-A-Flower from Altenew blog hop.

This month features the gorgeous Coral Sunset. You can start on over at the Altenew blog if you arrived mid-hop, and the next stop, along with details of a GIVEAWAY can be found at the end of this post.

This is a gorgeous bouquet image fill with two blooms and a budding floral, along with sentiments featuring that gorgeous Paint-a-Flower scripty font we know and love. I kept my card simple to focus on the image. I used layers of watercolor using the Artists watercolor pan set on hot press cardstock.

To get that no-line watercolor look, I stamped in a really pale ink – I used Vanilla Cream. I then built up the color gradually, using the smallest round brush from the Altenew round set. I built up depth by adding darker colors into the folds of the petals, and added lots of splatters for an artsy look and to add interest to the background.

When the image was dry, I stamped the sentiments directly over the top in Obsidian Pigment ink using a MISTI to ensure I didn’t mess it up! I then adhered it to a note card and added a few clear sequins to subtle sparkle.
