Woooooo who’s ready for a new release from Altenew! Me Me me!! I’m super enthusiastic about this one – it has some retro vibes which play to this 80s kids heart. And of course, it’s Altenew, so there are some stunning florals and cool geometrics to keep everyone happy!

My post today is part of the a release blog hop. You should have arrived here from Emily’s blog. If not you can start over at the Altenew blog. The full list of hop stops AND A GIVEAWAY are detailed at the end of this post. But stick around, as I have FIVE projects to share today!

My first card features the Gardenia Duo set – I stamped out the main florals and leaves in Jet Black ink (repeat stamping one of the florals for three blooms). I then used the coordinating stencil to color them in. For the florals I used Soft Lilac Ink, blending it out all over the petals. I then used Minty Mint ink for the leaves.

I like to add depth and contrast to my images with alcohol markers. I chose the Water Garden set of Artists Markers and chose a few of the darker shades that coordinated and added a few areas of shading, blending out out. I then die out the stamped images with the coordinating dies.

I arranged the bouquet with foam tape onto a panel of Woodgrain Powder cardstock trimmed to 4 x 5.25″ and adhered to a panel of white cardstock.

To finish my card, I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the set in Pure White embossing powder on Jet Black cardstock and die cut it out using a die from the Featured Sentiments die set, then popped it up on foam tape. I used my Dymo labelmaker to add a little more sentiment and then finished with a few purple crystals.

And you know what’s awesome for placing these tiny crystals? Altenew’s new tweezers! These are great quality metal tweezers with a super tiny, fairly sharp tip. Check them out:

My next card is SUPER easy. I love dry embossing metallic and mirror cardstocks – its really impactful.

I used silver mirror cardstock for this card, dry embossed with the new Illusion Triangles 3D embossing folder.

I trimmed the panel to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and adhered it to a white notecard with foam tape. For my sentiment, I wanted a pop of hot pink, so grabbed a scrap from my stash and heat embossed it in Pure White with this fun sentiment (for a good friend!) from the Just A Number stamp set. I then trimmed it out with one of the smaller Rounded Rectangles dies.

I repeated this with some black fun foam and adhered my sentiment to it, and then directly. onto the silver dry embossed panel. I finished with a couple of dark jewels to complete the geometric studded look!

My next card features the Playful Patterns stencil set. This is a set of stencils that you can use alone or layered on top of each other to create different patterns. They are a great way to experiment with color combos! My ink combo for this card starts light to dark, with the largest part of the pattern being the lightest so as to not overpower the rest of the card. I started with Misty Morning ink, then added Antique Gold, then Dark Night for the spots. I thought this combo had a 60s or 70s vibe to go with the pattern.

The final part – the flowers, I actually used iridescent glitter paste! I added it then let my panel fully dry.

Once the pattern was dry, I adhered it to a white notecard. I used the Happy Birthday dies from the Just A Number die set to die cut two layers which I adhered together – one from glossy black cardstock and one from white cardstock. I mounted it with thin foam tape onto the panel.

My last two cards go full 80s. They feature a fun stamp and 3D embossing folder from the new release that just screamed rainbow colors to me! I created an ink blended panel first. using the following colors, top to bottom: Heart Beat, Firebrick, Fresh Lemon, Grass Field, Turquoise, Hydrangea and Fuchsia.

I dry embossed. the panel with the Cool Doodles 3D Embossing Folder, then gently rubbed the Antique Gold ink pad over the top . The sentiment is from the Vintage Vibes stamp set, heat embossed in Pure White on Jet Black cardstock, then die cut with one of the Featured Sentiments dies, and popped onto the blended panel with foam tape. I finished with a few translucent gold jewels.

My final card features the images from the Cool Decades stamp set. I love the bold patterns and wanted to blend them with the same ink colors I used before, with some bold black ink (I’m using Obsidian Pigment ink for this one for that perfectly crisp and dark image).

I stamped the images with my MISTI so could restamp if needed, and stamped the colors first. I used the stamp conditioning erasers first to get that crisp stamped image. I then stamped over the top with the Obsidian ink, hanging the stamps off the edge in places.

Once again, the sentiment is from the Just A Number stamp set, and you can customize with different decades to suit the recipient! I heat embossed in Pure White on Jet Black and die cut with the Rounded Rectangles. I adhered it with bright green fun foam also cut with the Rounded Rectangle and adhered to a notecard.
