After 16 months of construction, the Route 662/Moselem Springs Road Bridge over the Maiden Creek linking Perry and Richmond townships is fully open.
The project involved replacing the four-span concrete bridge built in 1932 with a two-span prestressed concrete bridge, PennDOT said.
During construction, temporary traffic signals were installed at the bridge to control an alternating single lane of traffic.
The signals are no longer active, and two lanes of traffic, one lane in each direction, are now open.
The $5.2 million project also included constructing a new retaining wall and reconstructing the roadway approaches, PennDOT said.
The original bridge was 179 feet long and 28 feet wide.
The new bridge is 281 feet long and 35 feet, 4 inches wide.
The section of Route 662 has an average daily traffic volume of 3,859 vehicles, according to PennDOT.
J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, was the general contractor.
