UNCW police, WPD searching for vehicle

Car was involved in suspicious incident near campus Friday morning

WILMINGTON — Wilmington and University of North Carolina Wilmington police are searching for a vehicle involved in a suspicious Friday morning incident.

Just before 9 a.m. Friday, a woman was walking along Wood Dale Drive toward campus, according to a UNCW release, when a black car sped up and pulled off the road in an area described as being behind bushes, but alongside the woman.

According to the woman and a nearby witness, a passenger left the car and opened the rear passenger, startling the woman who ran to a nearby house. After the woman fled, the vehicle sped toward campus, according to the release.

The vehicle is described as a mid-sized, new black sedan with chrome wheels and tinted windows. Both the driver and the passenger are described as men in their mid-20s, according to the release. The passenger was wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt and had sandy blonde hair.
