Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack Unified Regional Response Workshop Series
The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission, in partnership with the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute, will host a series of two-day workshops over the course of the Spring and Summer of 2018, focusing on the fundamental areas of Public Information, Operational Communications, Intelligence, Tactical Response, Medical Response, and Victim and Family Services.
This two-day workshop focuses on specific fundamental roles in response to mass shootings and Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attacks. Invited speakers include key stakeholders involved in recent high-profile mass shootings and CCTA incidents (San Bernardino Terrorist Attack; Pulse Nightclub Shooting, Orlando; Lafayette, LA Theater Shootings, Dallas, TX Police Shootings, and more) to share their experiences, discuss the challenges they faced, and identify best practices and lessons learned from those events. These best practices, as well as recommendations compiled from incident after action reviews, Department of Justice publications, and Department of Homeland Security doctrine, will be used as a baseline for developing plans, synchronization matrices, training tools and the creation of technological solutions to better prepare first responders nation-wide.
Funded by a Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack grant made available by the Department of Homeland Security.
