WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Alumnus David Congdon and his wife Helen donated $10 million to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, which will help the university create a new school under the Cameron School of Business. It’s the largest monetary gift ever received by UNCW.

The school will be called the “David S. Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Information Systems." Congdon, part of the class of 1978, worked for his entire career with Old Dominion Freight Line, starting as a teenager and eventually working his way up to President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2008, he became CEO and is currently the Executive Chairman of the Old Dominion board.

The Congdon family donation will help with scholarships and professorships for the school.

In addition to the new school, the Computer Information Systems Building will now be known as David S. Congdon Hall.
