WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - For the third consecutive year, UNCW is featured in the 2019 Fiske Guide to Colleges.

Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the Fiske Guide features more than 300 of the "best and most interesting" schools in the US, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland. The guide, which has been offering an insider's look at colleges and universities for more than 35 years, provides prospective students with a glimpse into student life, available degrees, campus climate, athletic opportunities and basic admission criteria.

"Choosing a university is a difficult and important decision, and there are a number of factors students and parents have to consider," UNCW Chancellor Jose "Zito" Sartarelli said in a news release. "The Fiske Guide presents college-bound students with a better idea of what life is really like on our campus and all of the wonderful things that make UNCW such a special place."

Some of the feedback from students in UNCW's Fiske Guide report includes:

"I have loved my teachers. They are so hands-on."

"We have our own little police force that has a base right on campus, so it's very secure."

"Everyone here always seems to be in a good mood and goes out of their way to speak to and help others."

U.S. News and World Report ranked UNCW sixth among public universities and 14th in the South on its list of Best Regional Universities list and it was named a Best Southeastern School on The Princeton Review's list of 2018 Best Colleges: Region by Region.
