Gov. Tom Wolf signed into law a bill that toughens the penalties for criminals who use bank card skimmers to steal your money.
The law makes the possession and use of a skimming device, as well as transferring stolen information, a felony.
Skimming devices have been found on gas pumps, ATMs and payment terminals throughout the state. The devices can also be combined with a concealed camera that records PINs.
York County Rep. Kristin Phillips-Hill sponsored the bill after becoming a skimmer victim herself.
The governor signed the bill Thursday, and it goes into effect in 60 days.
