A friend from out of town came to visit me a few days back, and we both wanted Asian food for dinner. She is more of a Korean food lover and me I prefer Chinese, so this place was the perfect place to go!
We went on a Friday night and we had to wait to be seated for about 20 min! It's was quite busy but we waited hoping the food would be worth it. It definitely was! I ordered some sweet and sour chicken and my friend ordered some kind of Korean beef (I'm sorry I can't remember the name). A lot of Korean sides were served, of course I stole some from my friend. Service is excellent! They do take out, accept all credit cards and all of those good thingsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 86136260Mar 29, 2019
1981. My dad has been eating at Fu Yuang since 1981 (the current chiefs mom) and I have been eating there my whole life- even before I moved to South Korea! To be fair- I don't remember the mother's food but everyone else does, and they all say the same thing- Mia has surpassed her mother. Her husband- Chris is the best host on the planet. It's truly a nice family with a wonderful gift of sharing wonderful food. As someone who misses Korea- I'm here weekly. The hot wings on the appetizer menu- it's a must try. Also- the spicy pork is just...heaven! My personal favorite is the kimchi stew for those not sure if they'd like korean food- there's Chinese food too! Oh- and the egg drop soup!!! Try all the things! I can't seem to upload a video otherwise you'd get to see my stew still bubbling hot long after it was delivered to the table!

Fu Yuang was a great restaurant. I was sorry to hear that it closed, but confirmed from Fu Yuang's Facebook page that they closed on November 21, 2020. They will be missed. The relevant Facebook post follows:
"Our Dear Fu Yuang friends, we closed the doors for business on Saturday, November 21st, 2020. Mia is no longer able to meet the physical demands of operating the restaurant. We tried to sell the restaurant to many prospective buyers, with no luck due to COVID-19. We want to thank everyone for their kindness, dedication, & support over the past 26 1/2 years. We will truly miss you all. Thanks for all the memories we have made together at Fu Yuang!"Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heide P.Albuquerque, NM24151333390Oct 30, 2018
OMG Just some of the tastiest food you will ever eat! The food is spicy. Beef Bulgogi is Outstanding! This little family run-Restaurant, is the real deal for Korean Food in Albuquerque!
Spicy chicken is a best bet. The Egg Drop Soup is probably the best I've had.
Lovely people cooking really good Korean and Chinese Food! Go!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Liz K.Albuquerque, NM135111Mar 3, 2020
If you love wings, extra crispy wings? You will definitely be craving these wings for sure! They are so perfectly fried and the sauce that comes with them... yummy! They put the sauce on the bottom of the bowl, so you're supposed to start at the bottom of the bowl with the wings that have sauce on them already, then the rest will eventually get to the sauce. This is genius so by the time you get to the last wing it won't be soggy. Ginger chicken was delicious, bulgogi yum!!

They said they've been open for 40 years... this success makes sense in a city with a mere 2% Asian population. We came for a drive through pickup during the pandemic, and liked that service is prompt and friendly. But we'd gladly wait a little longer for higher quality food. The Kalbi was the most disappointing. It was $18 for beef that was super chewy, and so tough we couldn't eat the best part- the tendon. I've also never seen a kalbi cut so thick-- it was probably twice as thick as it should have been. And the flavor was extremely strange. The chapchae stuck to each other with little sesame flavor, the kung pao tofu barely soaked in any of the Kung pao flavor (again... just cook a little longer).

Fu Yuang is a standout Asian restaurant in a part of Albuquerque oversaturated with two-bit eateries. Their menu features fare from both Chinese and Korean cuisines, with evident mastery of each. I went with my girlfriend last night, arriving just in time for the 5:30 dinner opening, taking seats at a booth up front.
While the bibimbap special (featured on Fu Yuang's Facebook page) was appealing, I think we all knew that we had come for the bulgogi. Marinated ribeye is served sizzling hot on a gas-burning skillet to allow for continued cooking and seasoning throughout the meal. With a heavy hand, I shut off the flame by accident.
This signature menu item is well worth a try, and I recommend opting for the free lettuce wraps, which allow for all sorts of delicious combinations with the rice, kimchi, and pickled vegetables. We also had a couple vegetable egg rolls, which we enjoyed, and a cup of egg drop soup each.
Fu Yuang is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a fun dinner with friends and loved ones. While its location can make for a fair drive from some parts of the city, the food (and prices) more than justify the travel time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Larry T.Albuquerque, NM561157Dec 11, 2020Updated review
It saddens me to say that this local gem and the all-around great place has closed its doors for good in November. Chris and Mia have offered amazing food to this community for over 26 years. The food will be missed and remembered!
Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 14, 2020Previous reviewThe food, I must say, is completely divine.
If I could afford it, I would eat here all the time.
When the kid army descends, they are all appeased.
If I were religious, I would be on my knees.
The servers are friendly and the owners quite charming.
I love the decor, it's really quite warming.
Good things to say, there are so many.
Bad things to say, I can't find any.
So come one come all to my favorite restaurant
I hope when I die it is here I will haunt.Sep 7, 2018Previous reviewI honestly can't say that they exceed expectations as I always expect them to be perfect and they have consistently been so. The soup that I can't pronounce the name but is basically a combination between egg drop soup and wonton soup is amazing. I order it every single time that I go. My kids love the food and never complain about eating there... and if you think I am picky, they are serious critics. The staff is always friendly and frankly should be the picture in the dictionary for "service" and "wait staff". I can't say enough good things about this place.
