Sen. Carper urges states to use DHS resources to secure election system from hacks

Senate Homeland Security ranking member Tom Carper (D-DE) Wednesday sent a letter to National Governors Association Chairman Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) and Vice Chairman Brian Sandoval (R-NV), urging governors to take advantage of federal resources to better protect election systems from cyber threats.

The letter comes as discussions continue on roles of federal, state, and local governments in protecting voting systems from cyber attacks, which will not include a federal critical infrastructure designation by the Department of Homeland Security.
