WESTLAKE RITUALS AND ROUTINES
Westlake Rules and Rituals
- Student Drop Off/Pick-Up-Our new designated student drop-off route is designed to assist with continuous traffic flow in the mornings making it easy and convenient to drop off your student. Student safety is always at the forefront of what we do, therefore when the school day ends at 3:30pm all students should be picked up in the front of the school no later than 4:00pm. This is a full 30 minutes after dismissal. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in a social worker referral for repeated violations. If there is a family emergency that does not permit you to pick up your child on time, please alert the front office no later than 3pm. After 4pm the number of adults in the building is greatly reduced. Therefore, it is critical that all students not involved in an afterschool activity, either ride the bus or are picked up prior to this time so that the campus is clear of students. Our students’ safety is a top priority. Please allow your students to ride the bus home to prevent issues from occurring.
- Teaching and Learning begins each day at 8:20am. Any student entering a classroom after the 8:20am bell will be marked tardy.
- Dress Code-Westlake High School aims to uphold the district policy regarding appropriate student dress. Please ensure that your students enter the building each day ready to learn by refraining from wearing clothing that exposes the skin (midriff tops, jeans with holes above the knee, skirts/shorts that fall more than one inch above the knee, spaghetti straps), hats/head scarfs/caps, clothing that advertises alcohol or drugs of any kind.
Check out Westlake's dress code policy before you go shopping to ensure your fresh fits are in compliance
FREE SAT PREP
Applerouth has proven to be a very successful tool for our students here at Westlake, especially since the PSAT has been redesigned to align more precisely with the SAT.
As a result, Kennedy Arrington and Denae Clowers were last years' National Merit Scholars, who earned the privilege of being recognized for meeting the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program requirements.
Just imagine how much our overall student population could improve if we took advantage of the free resources on the Applerouth site: http://www.applerouth.com/westlake.
The online resources have a $99 retail value. Why spend thousands of dollars for college, when there are resources like this that can put our students in a situation where colleges are paying our students to attend their institutions? It’s already happening at Westlake.
Please visit the Applerouth site for this free information, all you need is your child’s Student ID. If you have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to contact Applerouth at info@applerouth.com or 404-728-0661.
Thank you parents for your continued support of our students. It is truly a partnership between the home and school.
