It's happening more and more frequently: Connecticut residents look out their windows and see a black bear in their front yard or driveway. 🐻 These bears are here to stay, says UConn College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources graduate student Melissa Ruszczyk. Until now, researchers have only been able to induce quantum behaviors, like magnetism and superconductivity, at extremely low temperatures. Breast cancer survival rates have increased over the past few decades, but social, political, and environmental factors still impact each individual's disease progression. https://lnkd.in/et8f3qtt Human development and family sciences professor Bellizzi Keith has received funding from the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative (CT BHI) to study how these factors may accelerate aging in adults with a history of breast cancer. "We are hoping to get a history going back about 30 million years," says Tracy D. Frank, head of UConn's department of earth sciences. https://lnkd.in/eBQHAuv7 In August and October of 2023, a team of researchers supported by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) traveled to the coast of Greenland to drill deep down into the muddy seabed, seeking information about the region's glacial history and how the Greenland Ice Sheet will respond to climate change.
