We are the Silverdale Chapter of the American Sewing Guild which includes members from the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas of Washington state. We like to think of ourselves as a destination organization for an in-person sewing community in our beautiful corner of the world.
We love everything about sewing, this hobby and passion that fulfills our need to be creative. We get together to talk about sewing, learn from each other and from sewing educators, and fire up our many sewing machines, sergers, and embroidery machines to create together. Our members are garment sewists, quilters, machine and hand embroiderers, purse and bag makers, crafters and fiber artists, to name a few, and reflect all skill levels and backgrounds. Some of us have been at it for decades, some of us were bitten by the sewing bug recently – all are welcome.
As a chapter, we meet several times a year for social and educational events. We also meet monthly in smaller Neighborhood Groups and Special Interest Groups which are organized by geography and particular sewing interest (e.g., our We Quilt group meets in Port Gamble, WA to talk about – you guessed it – quilting!). Programs are created by each group to serve members’ interests and are presented by members or guest speakers. All chapter members and skill levels are welcome to attend these groups. ASG is a non-profit organization with more than 135 chapters nationwide bringing sewists together since 1978. ASG offers something for every level of sewing experience and across multiple areas of interest.
