Apply for a Rent Bank Loan

Rent banks offer interest-free loans to help low-to-moderate income renters who are struggling to pay rent and/or essential utilities (gas/hydro). The maximum loan amount is up to $3500. Repayment terms are from 6 month to 36 months. Terms of agreement are set by rent banks themselves.

This is a loan program. Applicants will need to demonstrate they have the financial ability to pay regular monthly expenses and the monthly loan repayment, and if eligible, will be required to submit bank statements, proof of tenancy, and ID as part of the application process.

To start your application, search for the community or regional district where you live or where you are planning to move.

QUESTIONS

We encourage people to apply if they meet the following minimum criteria:

Be 19+ years of age
Be a current resident of B.C. or be moving to B.C.
Not owing more than 2 months in rent
Provide proof of a regular source of income that is sufficient to cover monthly living expenses
Show that the household is low-to-moderate income (BC housing HILS)
Evidence that the financial assistance will stabilize your housing beyond the immediate crisis
Must not have undischarged bankruptcy
