About this Course

In partnership with Douglas College, the New Westminster Museum and Archives welcomes you to ‘Tick-talk, Crime and Consequences’; a student conference presented in association with the New Westminster Museum’s 2018 summer student exhibit The Long Hours. Adopting a fast-paced presentation format, criminology students will raise key issues and challenges, describe personal experiences, and disseminate unique ideas from their field of study. Presentation topics include wrongful convictions, the right to legal representation, the over-representation of Indigenous peoples in Canada’s criminal justice system, youth justice policy, and connections between mental health and criminal justice. The conference will include several discussion sessions to generate valuable dialogue among students, academics, practitioners, and members of the public. Doors at the Anvil Centre Theatre (3rd floor) will open to the public at 5:30 pm.
