Florida State names director of University Health Services

Amy Magnuson, a three-time graduate of Florida State University, has been appointed director of University Health Services.

Magnuson has served as interim director since May 2017.

Magnuson, who brings more than 20 years of experience in health and wellness to the position, served as director of the Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness at the Health and Wellness Center for 13 years until assuming the role of interim director of UHS.

 Magnuson will direct a 170-person staff that serves nearly 42,000 students at FSU.

Magnuson also teaches in the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences in the College of Human Sciences.

 

Jeffrey Simmons, an honors student at Florida A&M University, has been awarded a Charles B. Rangel Fellowship. Dec. 15, 2018

 

Florida A&M honors student awarded Charles B. Rangel Fellowship

Florida A&M University Honor Student Association President Jeffrey Simmons has been awarded the Charles B. Rangel Fellowship in International Affairs for 2019.

Named for former New York Congressman Charles Rangel, the fellowship is a program administered by Howard University that seeks to prepare young people for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State.

Simmons, who is majoring in political science at FAMU, completed a summer internship in communications with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. 

 FAMU Physical Therapy Receives Positive News About Pass Rate                    

 FAMU has received notice that its Division of Physical Therapy is fully compliant with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

FAMU had received a warning about its pass rate on the licensing exam and was given two years to comply with the national standard. The program, which always has been accredited, now has a pass rate of 90 percent. 

Cynthia Hughes-Harris, is dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences.

Dawn Brown-Cross is director of the Physical Therapy Division.

The FAMU Physical Therapy Program will hold its first alumni reception with the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Conference on Jan. 25 in Washington, DC. 

FAMU College of Law earns accolades from The Knowledge Review

 The Florida A&M University College of Law has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Best Law Schools in America by The Knowledge Review.  

 “The 10 Best Law Schools in America 2018” is an annual listing of colleges offering career-oriented education in law while also nurturing students with a commitment to justice.
