(COLUMBIA, MO) - Residents who wish to run for City Council for Ward 3, Ward 4 or Mayor (City Council Member At-Large) must file a petition for office with the City Clerk’s Office. Petitions and instructions are available to be picked up from the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and City holidays.
Candidates for Ward 3 and Ward 4 must be qualified voters and residents of the Ward they are filing to represent and shall hold no lucrative public office or any lucrative position in the City government during their terms as Council members. Candidates must obtain at least 50 signatures from residents who reside and are registered voters of that same Ward.
Candidates running for Mayor must obtain at least 100 signatures from residents and registered voters of the City of Columbia.
Candidates may file for election beginning at 8 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2021; the deadline to file is Jan. 11, 2022, not later than 5 p.m.
