KITCHEN CHRISTMAS DECORATING IN BLUE + GREEN

If you’re joining me from Amanda of Sincerely Marie Designs, welcome to CitrineLiving! I am so in love with Amanda’s style – it’s classic and timeless and everything that I love. Her kitchen and mantel are beautiful and charming!

I have been so busy this year, and Christmas seemed to come out of nowhere…doesn’t it always seem that way?

I love this time of year so much, and I always love to create a unique look each Christmas so I can inspire you!

Let’s talk about how I kept it super simple in our Christmas kitchen this year. Like the rest of our home, I needed simplicity, both visually and practically speaking.

Once I knew what color palette I wanted to use, and the look and feel I wanted to create in our home, I decided that our kitchen would be dressed with just a few simple and elegant Christmas touches.

With an open concept home like ours, it’s crucial to have a cohesive look throughout for visual continuity, especially when you’re using accent colors to tell a story.

I continued with the same look you see everywhere else in our home – gorgeous greenery dressed with ribbon and bows, as well as simple Christmas decor accented throughout. That’s it.

I used the same green and blue bows on our bar stools that I used on our Christmas tree this year, and I love them! I secured them to the stools by tying them right onto the back of each one, after I made the bows.

OUR CHRISTMAS TREE + MANTEL

Our tree and mantel are decked in more blue and green this year! Head over to get all the details!

This soft sage green color is just so pretty paired with the soft blue, it’s unexpected for Christmas, and I absolutely love it.

I also dressed up the wreath hanging on our range hood the same way as in our Christmas entryway as well, with more of my beautiful green and blue ribbon.

I used a simple 3M command hook to secure the wreath – so easy!

Our entryway this year is decked with simple + elegant details with a modern approach and a little bit of nostalgia thrown in!

CHRISTMAS DECORATING ON OPEN SHELVES

You can see everything in our kitchen from just about anywhere in our home. We have a small footprint home that’s open concept, which can be tricky to decorate sometimes.

To keep it from becoming overdone and too busy and cluttered, I try my best to keep it simple over here in this corner of our kitchen.

Simple for me that is, ha! I love to display all the pretty things.

Our open shelves typically have some of my favorite pieces continuously on display, with just a few items swapped out each season.

This Christmas, I used a pair of my blue ginger jars tied with more pretty green ribbon, a pair of light green ceramic reindeer, and a small blue and white ginger jar arranged with some simple greenery.

Beautiful and simple ceramic Christmas trees on the shelf above bring your eye upward.

If you know me, you know I love my symmetry and this open shelf is usually styled with a symmetrical look in mind.

My cooking and baking staples that I use daily are always displayed here on the counter with my beautiful Mama’s blue and white platter.

I moved my brass salt mill and pepper mill over here to pick up the gold on the ceramic trees.

In hindsight, I think it might look better without the added brass, but I only realized that after I took my pictures!

SIMPLE CHRISTMAS DECORATING AROUND THE STOVE

Our stove and range hood are styled with more simple, elegant touches, like the rest of my kitchen Christmas decorating.

A lush wreath and a pair of ginger jars dressed with my holiday ribbon in green and blue, accented with clean-lined mercury glass Christmas trees.

I styled my white soup tureen – one of my favorite pieces I’ve had for years – on a marble board on the stovetop, for a clean look.

Symmetry is always a no-fail way to style any space, and I’m loving the simple and elegant look this Christmas in our kitchen.

A SIMPLE + ELEGANT CHRISTMAS ARRANGEMENT

Keeping elegance and simplicity in mind on our island, I styled it with a simple and beautiful, lush greenery arrangement in one of my favorite ginger jars.

Some more ceramic Christmas trees and a beautiful scented candle complete the look.

I used an abundance of two types of faux greenery to create my arrangement, twelve stems in total.

I wanted a mix of colors and textures, but you can use all the same if you prefer. There’s no right or wrong with this type of arrangement!

USE A LARGE GINGER JAR

A large ginger jar is always a showstopper! Create a beautiful holiday statement anywhere in your home with a gorgeous arrangement.

The few greenery touches throughout our kitchen and home this Christmas are truly so beautiful, and keeping it natural and simply decorated makes such an elegant statement.

MY 3 SIMPLE CHRISTMAS DECORATING TIPS:

This year, my simple Christmas decorating go-to’s around our home are the three same things that I’ve also used for my kitchen Christmas decorating:

  1. A color palette that is consistent with the rest of our Christmas decor in our home. This year it’s blue and green.
  2. An abundance of simple, beautiful and lush greenery – wreaths, arrangements, garlands. You can use real or faux, I used faux since we have it up for so long.
  3. Simple Christmas decor and accents styled in a few key areas around the kitchen.
