Neighbors are rattled after a weekend shooting in Woonsocket that injured an innocent 13-year-old boy.

Some described the scene as "alarming" as Woonsocket police rushed to reports of shots fired on Cumberland Street.

Woonsocket resident Robert Dunton said he heard the commotion from his home.

"Around 2:30 in the afternoon, my wife and I were laying down in our bedroom which faces the parking lot and the street, and we heard six random what sounded like gunshots," said Dunton.

Woonsocket police said 49-year-old Gerald Ware was involved in the shootout in front of Firm Foundation Christian Church.

At that moment, a father was driving by with his two children. Police said one of the bullets entered the car and his 13-year-old son was wounded on his arm, either by a stray bullet or broken glass.

Woonsocket resident Stephanie Ospina said she is tired of the violence.

"The whole road was blocked off we had to go around the city," said Ospina.

Ospina said she has several kids and walking with them in Woonsocket nowadays is scary, because you never know what is going to happen.

"I was really nerve wracked with that, my kids used to go to the Boys and Girls club over here," said Ospina.

The 13-year-old was treated at Landmark Medical Center and expected to be okay.

Dunton said he is unsure about remaining in Woonsocket.

"It's very unsafe, we're trying to find someplace else to go. This is serious," said Dunton. "This has gotten ridiculous. You know it's like I said it's a shooting gallery. It's unsafe we won't even let our grandkids come over anymore. It's just very unsafe."

Ware faces three counts of felony assault and several gun charges.

Police are still looking for the second shooter.
