When you lead your team to the best record in the NBA, good things come your way.

Joe Mazzulla, the Boston Celtics' interim head coach, will be the head coach of Team Giannis at the NBA All-Star Game in February.

Mazzulla, the Johnston native and Bishop Hendricken grad, clinched the best record in the Eastern conference on Monday with a 36-15 overall record. Mazzulla becomes the eighth coach in Celtics history to be given the honor of coaching an NBA All-Star Game.

This is just the third time in the last 24 seasons that an All-Star team will be guided by a first-year NBA coach.

Mazzulla was made the Celtics' interim coach following the suspension of former Celtics head coach Ime Udoka after an external investigation determined Udoka violated multiple team policies.

The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.
