Roughly 20 years ago, Rhode Island had Mr. Potato Heads to find throughout the Ocean State, and now, in a similar fashion, foxes are coming to Foxborough!

It's part of a public art project spearheaded by the Foxborough Cultural Council.

"The cow parade in Chicago or the big pig gig in Cincinnati, now Foxborough wants to do one and raise some money for arts and culture initiatives within the town,” said Tiffany Elliott with the Foxborough Cultural Council.

The council is looking for local artists and sponsors to get creative and submit design proposals for the foxes.

Once selected, the 4-foot-tall foxes will adorn the town for the Fox-in-the-Boro Art Walk.

"Get families out and about walking through the community, get them in the uptown business area, certain shops and local businesses really want to get people out in the common area,” Elliott said.

Tiffany Elliott says this is a great way to enhance tourism outside of Gillette Stadium and get people out and about this summer.

"There really isn't a place for us in town to engage with art and so there's always siloed areas throughout the town so our hope is to bring that community out and get people talking and get people engaging within the common,” Elliott said.

The foxes will be up for two years before they'll be auctioned off to raise money for future community art projects.

Applications for designs are due Feb. 3.

Foxborough has more information on the program online.
